Another solid podcast! I think Lumet’s “12 Men” were angry because they were unable to escape jury duty.

Also, it was very hot and there was no AC.

A couple of great stories! Maybe it'll inspire me to do a little write-up of my one and only experience with voir dire.

I also like Todd's comments, but he needs to speak up or something. I listen on Alexa while I'm making lunch, and I often can't hear what he's saying.

Thanks Katie! I hope you do a write-up. If you do, tag me so I can see it. Also, thanks for the note about Todd's audio. We'll make an adjustment.

A total delight!

I have to say after my experience serving for two weeks on a grand jury in Brooklyn I swore I would never, ever tangle with the law. It was terrifying!

Grand jury!!! I am so impressed. Do you know what lawyers say about grand juries? They say they'd indict a ham sandwich. But I don't think that's true. Here's why: there are a lot of ham sandwiches running free.

But it really is true. They really would indict anything. It was very painful to observe.

Yup. One of the many ways a purportedly fair system stacks the deck in favor of the prosecution.

I listen on Overcast, which is probably like .05% of your overall listenership, but it’s a great podcast app.

I know you've mentioned Overcast before, but I looked it up. The founder was the CTO at Tumblr. That's about as good as a platform rec gets, I think.
