First off, I loved that this was only 18 minutes - definitely doable over solo lunch ππ». Secondly and more importantly, it was a great story and I vote for more of these with Todd. I agree that itβs a much more natural storytelling vibe when you can riff with someone who knows you well but who also has their own kind of audio βpresence.β
Thank you, Amy! I'm so glad this worked for you. More are on the way, promise! I'm planning to put these up every other week for now, but I'll rethink the cadence as it grows. Meantime, please do me a huge favor and share it with friends who need a laugh.
You sound much more comfortable in this podcast format. Keep it up!
The barber thought you were the 4 year old version of "The Emperor's New Clothes" .
Not only did airlines allow smoking in the old days before the idiocy of smoking and non smoking sections, my parents used to come home with mini packs of cigarettes that the airlines gave out to passengers.
Thank you for listening! And thank you for your feedback on the earlier tests. I remember the idiocy of the smoking section on the plane. I also remember a time when I was 7 or 8 and I got a seat one row in front of the smoking section. I puked my guts out.
Iβm now wondering if Vidal Sassoon and Paul Mitchell are massive rivals π€£
This is such a great story!!! Anger management for getting a haircut π€£π€£ I love the visual of the old school barber shop. Just great storytelling Michael!!
Listened to this while making breakfast this morning - realized it's the first time I ever heard your voice. Didn't realize we have so much in common - my wife is actually my barber too. It's a lot less work since I am bald, so she just joyrides on my head with a T-Liner. I can't help but notice how you pronounce "adult" - I guess that must be because we are on different sides of the country.
Anyway, I wrote a story on going bald, a barber who cut my hair with a pizza in his hand, and how my wife is the first barber I dared to lock eyes with. I think you might like it! I hope it's okay I am sharing this, if not please feel free to delete this comment.
Hi Marc, it's totally OK to share links to your work. All I ask is that you participate in the community and share stuff that's relevant. You're doing great on both accounts! I can't wait to read a story about about balding and a pizza-eating barber. That is right up my alley! As for how I pronounce adult, all I can say is keep listening because I'm absolutely going to pronounces lots of other words weird too.
Congratulations on launching a podcast! Great first story. I love the format of storytelling mixed with live commentary.
I was a local child actor and during a voice over gig, and I, too, lectured an annoyed actor who smoked that smoking was bad for him. But Iβm awed you got to interact with George Burns. As a kid, I listened to old episodes of Burns and Allen on cassette!
Thank you, Geoffrey! I'm so glad you enjoyed this. Also, you were a child actor!? Amazing! And you also brought your views on smoking into the workplace? Great minds, friend, great minds!
I Subscribed. That was awesome, Michael. You sound exactly as I had imagined you would.
Thinking of haircuts, the worldβs worst haircuts are consistently given by Supercuts. That is true across the entire franchise and across all eras. I went there in my twenties, & had to go to a different place to fix the mess they made. I swore Iβd never go back, but went again in my thirties and they were horrible again. Still not having learned my lesson I tried again in my 40s. I know, shame on me.
Thank you! I really appreciate you taking the time to listen to the podcast! And Iβm right there with you on Supercuts. Got burned there in my 20s, 30s, and 40s too. I probably wonβt learn either. Iβm sure theyβll burn me in my 50s too.
When I was a kid our family doctor smoked, even while treating us. I only remember going to see him when a poison ivy rash was making me crazy. He would give me a steroid shot. I developed a fear of needles. But I outgrew it, today I got my flu & covid booster shot. Oh what a big girl am I.
So wild to think about a doctor smoking while examining you, right? Glad you got over your fear of needles. Hope youβre feeling well after the double shot. Got both of mine two weeks ago, and I needed a nap.
Hilarious. Excellent. I love this podcast, and I'm a really tough audience. Minor note, that intro is going to get old fast if you plan to do it before every show. You tell a really good story! π

Will do!
Thank you, youβre the best!

As a smoker (at the time), I always asked for a seat in non-smoking.
I've never hit a like button with more conviction.
This was so great, Michael. You've 100% found your vehicle.
We should all be so lucky to have a "Todd" in our lives. Looking forward to hearing more from both of you! ππ₯
Thank you, Meg! I'm so glad you liked this with convictionπππ
But seriously, thank you for listening! And I think you're right, this feels right. Looking forward to making more of these.
I loved this!! More, please!! (Oh, dang, yes, smoking used to be everywhere. Everywhere!)
Thank you, Jane! More are on the way. Planning to do this every other week. I lost a lot of sweaters to the bars of Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Best club there is!

I listened to it while driving! Like a true podcast !
That's awesome! I hope the podcast made LA traffic more pleasant.

Love the format for your podcast with your buddy Todd. Kudos to you!
As far as you acting career goes....I guess you could say it went up in smoke.π
Yes, it did, Heather! πππ
βA Swiss Army knife of a productionβ may be the most accurate description of my husband Iβve ever read. Also, this podcast positively rules.

Are encounters like this the reason Christina cuts your hair now? Is there anything that woman can't do? She's my hero. Great story, Michael
Of course! Thanks for asking! You can also find the podcast on any podcasting app you use, just search for Situation Normal.
