Oh, chiropractors do have tools to deal with *those* kinds of pains in the ass- I’ve seen YouTube vids! ;)

Perhaps the woman was suffering back pain due to lugging a heavy Gucci bag around.

Name a better combo than Michael Estrin referencing Star Wars. It can't be done. I still think about your epic airport / Han Solo piece at least once a week.

Your GIF game was fire this week!

I've been living with neck pain for almost 2 months now. No idea what happened. Just woke up one day and noticed it. Best part is it moves from one side to the other, and sometimes disappears entirely long enough that I think I'm cured. Ahh, wacky fun.

One time I threw my back out flinging the flat sheet off of myself in the morning. I really hope this wins me the prize for lamest way to injure your back ever.

If your pain continues, look up Alan Gordon. He’s near you in LA and does pain reprocessing work. His book The Way Out is fantastic.

Not my back, exactly, but my neck. With all the Canadian wildfire ash in the air, I have been sneezing constantly, and some muscle under my jaw suddenly got stretched/sprained after about 10 sneezes in a row. Now any neck movement, including swallowing, is painful. It’s finally getting a little better today. As for chiropractors, I would never pay in advance for any service, but especially that. I hope it worked for you.

I hear you on the back.

Pain: Ice for 20 minutes every eight hours, then four hours after icing that use a heating pad for 20 minutes. heat and cold cause more blood flow to the muscles.

A good massage therapist can do wonders with back muscle issues. And while they can work on glutes, the PITA is not something they can work on. After this gets sorted out start to look for one, some salons have good ones that are legit, maybe try an Aveda salon. Don’t bring up “happy endings” and be that guy.

consider some Physical Therapy to build up your core muscles and give your back something to work with. Your PCP can make a referral and insurance can pay for most of it.

Oh boy. That gal trying to save $140 to put towards a matching Gucci wallet. What’s a little pain if you’ve got designer labels sewn into everything like a billboard?

Hope your back is feeling better! Been there. I finally got the right exercises.

Back pain is an eventuality. It’s not a question of if, but when you dare to sneeze with unearned confidence.

This comment has a lot of truth in it. Thank you!

My back? Hurting like hell. The pain and stiffness got worse after jumping in the waves with my granddaughter last week, so maybe I’ll live with it.

I always try to have enough money to last the month. I stopped balancing my checking account years ago. Now everything goes on a credit card. If anything weird shows up in the apps, I look, otherwise, it’s right for me.

Heal up. Bad back solidarity.

By the way, I found an Osteopathic Physician in Boise Idaho. He performed Radio Frequency Ablation which basically kills some of your nerves. Most people need to have it done multiple times. Unfortunately I’m not in Boise now. My current pain isn’t as bad as what he fixed.

1. My back is good right now but I hope I just didn’t jinx it!

2. PITA 🫓 are yummy to eat, not to encounter.

3. Rocket Money App helps me stay on top of my finances. That and prayers 🙏 to the NASDAQ gods.

4. Her husband drives a matching G wagon and cuts people off in Los Angeles in a fit of road rage on the regular. Plus he wears too many bead bracelets and secretly listens to Joe Rogan.

5. Never hurt my back in an embarrassing way (yet). But give me time…

Back doing well, Rocket Money app on the case, and the NASDAQ gods answering your prayers. You got it going on.

My husband threw his back out a few years ago, putting on his socks, I think? We were in the middle of moving into our new house, so while he was immobile for a week, I had to complete the move & cleaning the old place on my own. So his back pain became my pain in the ass! Getting older sucks.

Michael Estrin's avatar

Wow, all of that sounds terrible. Bright side: you guys made it through that crucible.

Robin LaVoie's avatar

We did make it through- and have a “good” story to remember about our move, too…! 😆

I returned from a business trip, put my suitcase down by my desk, stood up and WHAM! Out my back went. It was gruesome for months, then off and on for years, then no problems for years. But then the pain has come back, intermittently. If human beings were designed, the creator was either incompetent or a sadist. Backs are a premier example.

Michael Estrin's avatar

RJ, your bad back situation sounds like it can easily be blamed on the airlines. You should talk to a lawyer.

My back is by and large, ok. Current events are a serious PITA. I keep my finances under a reasonable amount of control. I think. My guess is that hubs didn't know about this. Yet.

I have had a frozen shoulder, which I've been told is a mostly women problem, so there's that.

Michael Estrin's avatar

Frozen shoulder is a women's problem? That seems odd, right? I dunno. I hope your shoulder thaws.

T Swanson's avatar

Oh, that was a few years back. A chiropractor fixed it, lol. But yes, a frozen shoulder is said to generally be a women affliction...

Hope you feel better soon! ❤️‍🩹 I was having lower back pain during the workday, so I tried this seat cushion that’s specifically made for that problem. It works wonders! I think the company is called Cushion Lab. It’s not cheap, but it was worth it.

Michael Estrin's avatar

Cushion Lab is a great name. Imagine being a cushion scientist.

I've thrown my back out making the bed so don't feel bad.

You really don't want to know about my back pain, It has been over a year-long saga now. Suffice it to say, I'm not getting the relief I need from the VA, especially when I'm in Ft Worth. I never had these problems in Jupiter, Fla. , but I digress.

I hope yours is well soon!

Michael Estrin's avatar

Solidarity in back pain, Kim. May we both heal soon.

Loved this story, relatable in many ways. My back’s mostly fine, until I lean into my habbit of bad posture and poor decisions.

The pain in my ass is me. Unlike your lobby antagonist, I know Im the problem and wouldn’t pull a Broadway number or demand policy exceptions for my own mess-ups.

Re: the husband question… no creative answer, just rage and sadness.

Also, I’ve hurt my shoulder sneezing. Theres nothing that reminds you more that your body is fragile, the calendar’s full, and the dreadful feeling you might have missed out or have to miss out on something bigger that actually really matters far more greatly to you. We have to take time to recover and rest to be better humans. The woman in your story needs a time out.

Thank for this comment, Danielle! Every word.
